After 40 years of full time real estate service I have seen it all......well almost.
The journey began at 23 years of age representing a developer in Bryan Texas selling condominiums to parents of students at Texas A & M University.
The journey rapidly turned a different direction with the representation of the purchasers of a 2300 acre parcel which became Pebble Creek Country Club in College Station Texas. Additional properties were bought and developed over the course of the next few years and then the dreaded "Tax Reform Act of 1986" came into play forcing banks developers and Savings and Loans into bankruptcy. Not a great time to be in the business.......However
Congress formed the "Resolution Trust Corporation" which was charged with disposing of those foreclosed assets. My firm then won a contract to market some 125M of real estate property held by the defunct entities.
During this same time period I formed a partnership with 9 other real estate brokers merging my real estate firm with another to purchase and form RE/Max Texas Heritage Realtors. We operated that firm for some 23 years as well as forming developing and marketing properties ranging from; strip center properties office warehouse properties medical/dental properties residential subdivisions and storage unit facilities. To this day I continue to own and manage properties in Texas as well as being a licensed Real Estate Broker in Texas.
I came to the Valley of the Sun in 2009.....not the best timing....but having survived the 80's I knew it would be a slow go here in Arizona. However experiencing the ups and downs of a life time it has taught me how to research and understand a given market....
I have two children a daughter that oversees the business interests in Texas and a son a former college pitcher and minor league player.
My wife a Boarded Veterinary Anesthesiologist and I, maintain a 10 acre horse ranch in the Rio Verde Foothills.
